Gambit's Canyon Judgments Round Two

Fri Oct 31, 2008, 9:27 PM
Alright, my apologies for taking so damn long to do this, I've been busy busy busy. I'll mainly list the main reasons for the wins this time to get straight to the point.

First off, :icondemonchild1988: vs. :iconabaikgirl:

I gave :icondemonchild1988: the win on this one because although both stories were well-developed in their respects, I felt that :icondemonchild1988:'s entry was stronger in bringing home a nice, powerful story that was able to suck the audience in. :iconabaikgirl: writes wonderfully, but my biggest complaint with her entry was a misstep in characterization from the viewpoint of her opponent's character. I can understand that Nin is alone and afraid in some respects, but I think her fear was amplified a little too much in her fight against Jaise. If anything, I felt Nin would have had more rage in her encounter with the psycho if she tried to kill her. Characterization was flawed in this respect, but everything else was fine.

Therefore, the win goes to :icondemonchild1988:

:iconinsanityshallrein: vs. :iconxdarksoul07x:

The main reason why I gave :iconinsanityshallrein: the win is that although both entries had a good lead up to the battle scene, :iconxdarksoul07x: doesn't deliver a battle scene and ending that wraps up the story. The battle is rather anti-climactic, giving her opponent no opportunity to hit Dark at all, and the ending just sort of cuts off. :iconinsanityshallrein:'s entry gives us a much more thorough battle of Tyrn vs. Dark and Luis, and fails to disappoint in giving us an action-packed duel. Plus the finishing blow is really clever! I feel that although the ending could have had slightly more resolve, this entry had a much more developed ending that would have given the reader an opportunity to want more.

Therefore, the win goes to :iconinsanityshallrein:.
